Lord Sumption explains why Covid-19 reaction is incoherent and how we are now under a police state

At the end of March 2020, Lord Sumption (the former justice of the Supreme Court), explained to BBC Radio 4's 'World at One' how we have turned into a police state and how we the public have willingly surrendered our freedom to allow this to happen:
His words are powerful and bravely challenge the imposition of a tyrannical Government that has been strengthened by a corporate-owned mainstream media that has sensationalised the panic.
In a further interview with the BBC on the 17th May 2020, Lord Sumption questioned why, without any further purpose, the government has continued with it's Lockdown despite the original rationale about spreading infections over a longer period to allow the NHS to gain capacity, having been fulfilled:
He explains:
"...Lockdown should be entirely voluntary... it is not up to the state to decide what we do with our bodies..."
"...People who feel vulnerable should self isolate as they don't have to take a risk and can stay at home rather than go to public places, allowing the rest of us to be able to get on with our lives..."
"...We do not live in a risk-free world and people should be able to make their own decisions on the level of risk they want to take where for the overwhelming majority of people this is not a serious risk..."
We may ask ourselves whether the UK Government would ever admit they have made a mistake and if they won't, what ulterior motive might they be covering up in order to continue along the trajectory they have embarked on...? What do they know about who is going to benefit from all of this destruction we have seen to the economy thus far and what can we make of their plans to restructure every part of society as part of a 'New normal'?
So successful a campaign has it been that the public are now fully convinced of dying by going into a hospital, stepping outside of our own front door or simply hugging somebody they love, despite Chris Whitty having explained that Covid-19 is harmless to the vast majority of people:
It seems the public's imagination has been captured so deeply by slow panning shots of people choking for breath in hospitals that they can now no longer believe anything else. Meanwhile the ticking time bombs of declining public health and a sinking economy may be the lasting fruits of this Government's response to a pandemic that possibly never was.
Comments
